“Flea and Tick Prevention!”

WE all know the normal options of flea and tick collars and topical medications along with with chewable treats!

You can watch Toby getting his flea collar put on and the right way to put the collar on along with topical by following the steps on the video the same way!

Here are some home remedies as well for dogs and cats who cannot use topical, collars, or chewable treats as their flea and tick prevention!

My personal favorite that can also be used after baths as a home quick dry spray is the Apple Cider Vinegar spray!

1 part apple cider vinegar, 1 part water, and optional essential oils like lavender, lemongrass, and citronella.

Mix ingredients in a spray bottle and spray on your dogs coat before going outside!

Home made Flea and Tick Shampoo:

1 cup of your dog’s favorite shampoo, 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel, and optional 4 drops of essential oils like lavender, lemongrass, and citronella.

Mix all ingredients together and use as regular shampoo during bath time!

Essential oil Spray:

4 oz filtered water, 2 tablespoons witch hazel, 10 drops cedarwood essential oil, 5 drops lavender essential oil, and 5 drops lemongrass essential oil

Combine ingredients in a spray bottle and spray on your dogs coat before going outside!

Flea and Tick Powder

1 1/2 cups food-grade diatomaceous earth, 1/4 cup lemongrass powder, 1/4 cup neem leaf powder, and 10 drops lemongrass essential oil

Mix ingredients well and apply to coat avoiding face and eyes!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

ALWAYS use therapeutic grade essential oils and dilute them properly before applying them to your dogs skin and coat! As some essential oils are toxic to dogs such as tea tree oil when not diluted properly!

Apple cider vinegar will NOT kill fleas and ticks but it will repel them! So only use these methods to repel not kill the fleas and ticks!

Some sources mention garlic as a natural remedy for repelling flea and ticks but it can also be toxic to dogs so consult your vet before using anything with garlic.

And as always: CONSULT YOUR VET BEFORE USING ANY PRODUCTS OVER THE COUNTER OR HOME REMEDIES
