“The Importance of Sunscreen and Your Dog!”
Your dog can and should wear sunscreen!
It doesn’t hurt no matter what breed of dog you have to use some spray on sun screen to help protect their skin!
Of course breeds with shorter fur, light colored fur, or thin fur should absolutely be wearing sunscreen at all times when in the sun!
Why Dogs Need Sunscreen
Dogs with light colored skin and fur, or short fur are highly susceptible to getting a sunburn.
Prolonged sun exposure can increase the risk of sun cancer, particularly in areas with less fur.
Sunburn can also cause other issues like inflammation and pain.
When To Use Sunscreen
As mentioned before for dogs with light colored skin and fur and dogs with thin and short fur.
Pay special attention to exposed areas like nose, tips of the area, stomach, groin, and inner thighs.
If your dog has been shaved from grooming or has hair loss or any skin conditions they will need extra sub protection!
If you are outdoors between peek hours 10am-4pm it is crucial to put sunscreen on your dog!
